e+™ Ethylene Remover extends the shelf life of pre-climacteric fruits, vegetables and flowers. Many horticultural crops have their ripening response accelerated in the presence of ethylene. Products include: bananas, tomatoes, dates, apples, melons, mangos, avocados, papayas, cut flowers, pot plants, peaches, pears. e+™ Ethylene Remover. Other crops have a physiological response to ethylene, e.g. citrus fruit, grapes, asparagus, lettuce and pineapples.

Initial screening was carried out in a plug flow reactor (200ppm C2H4, 10%O2 balance He with/without ~100% relative humidity). e+™ Ethylene Remover had a capacity of over 4500 ml/g in the presence of moisture at room temperature.
Additional research at Cranfield University demonstrated the ability of e+™ to extend the life of bananas and avocados by removing ethylene gases that cause ripening. e+™ effectively controlled ethylene to sub-physiologically active levels. The testing was completed by Dr. Leon A. Terry at Cranfield University (UK).
Additional testing at Cranfield demonstrated the impact of e+™ on the nutritional and taste aspects of the avocado. Test results showed the extension of shelf-life in cold storage using e+™, with fruit softening delayed for two weeks. Ripening was not impeded at ambient temperature once fruit was removed from cold storage with e+™. There was no degradation of avocado-derived fatty acids (nutritionals) and sugars (taste) using e+™ as compared to control.
